Care for Kids:
Early Childhood Healthy Sexuality and Abuse Prevention Program

The Care for Kids Program prepares early childhood educators to be proactive in preventing child sexual abuse through health education and promotion of sexual health. Care for kids is a comprehensive, community-based approach to prevention that provides early childhood educators, parents, and other professionals with information, materials, and resources to communicate positive messages about healthy sexuality to young children. Recognizing that adults need to take responsibility for protecting young children, the program provides specific ways to foster open, non-threatening, developmentally appropriate communication about the broad range of issues connected to healthy sexuality.  This seven session curriculum is designed for children ages three to seven in the early childhood setting.

Care for Kids was developed by the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit in Brockville, Ontario. Child Safe has been trained and certified by their U.S. designee, Prevent Child Abuse Vermont, to present the program.
